Struggling with VR

Specs first: 5800x3d, 32gb ram, 4070 super, link cable, quest 3

Debug tool: ASW off, fov .73/.5, 450 bit rate

Test tracks: Spielberg, Le Mans, and Azure

Currently 72hz at 1.5x

I am struggling to get stable frame rates in rain/rain fog conditions. It’s specially worse at night when a car is behind me lighting up the cockpit. It’s also worse in some corners than others.

In the daytime it’s fine. But I find AMS2 is at it’s best in mixed conditions with day/night cycles.

I’ve tried various combination of settings from msaa and all settings low to medium/high. I sent anisotropic filtering in nvidia control panel and lowered in game as an utuber suggested.

In hotlap, single car on track, it’s also fine in thunderstorm. As soon as any car is in sight, there is stutter.

I left my task manager open and played in borderless VR in a lower resolution. My CPU does not exceed 20% and GPU 50%. Temperatures for both are normal or almost cool. I’m running an AIO for the CPU. RAM sits at 11 gb.

I’m puzzled. It’s not pushing my hardware, using original link cable, and high bitrate.

Meanwhile, ACC is running amazingly smooth. I can skirt those blocks on Donnington park with surprising accuracy.

Any advice would be great! Thank you!
