Is the food actually that bad?

My wife and I have gone on several cruises before and loved them all. This year though, we decided to try an all inclusive resort in Mexico for the first time. We are looking at Secrets Akumal for early December, but I keep reading that all inclusives have mediocre food. Is it really that bad or are people just being picky? If it helps, my wife and I have both loved all of the food on cruises with Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, etc. So if it’s pretty comparable to cruise food, it sounds good enough to me. Maybe my standards are low lol
