Coming from East Coast - Burner Bus Capacity vs. Car Rental

Hi all - I know this has been covered in the past, I've spent hours reading all the old threads I could find but was hoping to get some specific advice. Sorry to rehash a stale topic.

This will be my wife and my first burn (we're so excited! we've been trying to get tickets for 4 years).

After reading a lot of guides on what to bring, I can't see how we'd be able to fit everything into the space allotment for the Burner Bus. I've lived out of a backpack for over a month in the wilderness before and spend several weeks at sea in small boats, so I'm comfortable packing light - but I also want to experience Burning Man to the fullest extent possible: aka, shaded shelter and decent food.

I have a ton of issues sleeping in the heat, and so setting up a monkey hut sounds like a 'must do' to manage heat in the tent from what I've read. Further, precooking meals and hauling them in a dry-iced cooler sounds like a huge upgrade to eating backpacker rations for a week - but there's no way those coolers weigh under 50lb.

I can't think of a way to fit a tent + shade structure + two coolers of food on the burner bus. The shade alone likely exceeds the dimensional allotment.

I'm happy to rent a car, even given the likelihood of a large cleaning fee (although I forgot to buy a car pass, lol).

Any thoughts?

Thank you and looking forward to meeting some of you on the Playa!
