I am extremely late to the party.

How do you typically listen to music?

My only exposure to new music is when I fire up Spotify and listen to my "Discovery Weekly" playlist. I do this somewhat regularly, but my primary way to listen to music is through my iTunes library because I like to make my own playlists. (Yes, I know I could make playlists on Spotify, but I'm a cranky old man who hates change and refuses to get with the times).

Anyway, back in 2017, The Decemberists popped up in my Spotify Discover Weekly. I liked what I heard, bought as couple of songs and added them to my iTunes library. Since I have so much music on iTunes, the couple of songs I bought don't come up too often whenever I hit shuffle, (and I apparently never added the songs to any of my playlists). The music I usually listen to is nothing like The Decemberists, so the band also never ended up returning to my Spotify Discover Weekly.

It was only in the last couple of weeks that I realized how much I liked one of Decemberist songs I had purchased after one of them came up on shuffle. So I started sniffing around and listening to their other music...

I need to apologize to myself for not exploring this band sooner even though I knew they existed YEARS ago. I know I am very late to the party, but I just wanted to say that I am obsessed. Absolutely OBSESSED.

"The Mariner's Revenge Song" has shot right up to one of my absolute favorite songs of all time.

TL;DR - I knew this band existed for years and never explored it until now and I am mad that I deprived my ears from this.
