Why is it called a Stingtail?

I mean, maybe I've been drinking too much, but the Glyphid Stingtail doesn't sting! It especially doesn't even have a stinger on its tail!

Surely Slingtail would be a better name. It uses its tail to sling you around the caves.

But maybe it is a Slingtail and in the heat of the moment the first dwarf to write it down accidentally changed an "l" to a "t" or that the second dwarf who saw that, the one entering it into the bestiary, assumed that Slingtail was a typo. "Oh they mean it's like a Scorpion. I'll edit that"

Makes no sense.
