New to Depop and pretty terrified

I have never bought anything off of Depop. I have been reading about it and looking at posts about it and it seems like there is so much drama. I found a few things I would like to get. The sellers seem nice. I asked if the items are still available and they said yes. They are already on sale so I dont want to ask for it to be cheaper, I think.

I am worried if there are a ton of unwritten rules I am unaware of. I dont really understand how this works or how communication is supposed to go between seller and buyer.

I am also worried about the products being unsanitary or used. I am terrified of bed bugs. I will wash everything when I get it in hot water, but I am still afraid. Is it inappropriate to ask of the clothing’s state of cleanliness? I used to work at a thrift store (a very popular one where I live) and I have seen the horror that used clothing goes through. Used clothes mixed in with used underwear we have to throw out.. drugs.. blood… unidentified substances.. cockroaches everywhere, flies everywhere, moldy bins. Black mold everywhere. I do not trust thrift stores after working there. I cant. But i feel horrible buying new clothing. So I really want to feel safe buying clothes from here. I want to ask if they’ve been thrifted beforehand or if theyve only had one owner, and if theyre cleaned before sending. I know im overly paranoid but after what I experienced I desperately want to be safe.

Please let me know what is and is not appropriate to ask; and what the buying process is. I just wanna be safe and polite at the same time.
