Horse riding in Novels

Hey! I'll confess I've never actually ridden a horse in my life. In fact, I am an author who is writing a book that just so happens to contain horses! I was just wondering if there's any specific things people often get wrong about horses/horse riding in fiction that I should know about! Any common inaccuracies or icks would be appreciated! As well as any tips you just want to throw in there!
