Movies depicting society's hatred for women

I watched Story of Women (Une Affaire de Femmes, 1988, French) for the second time yesterday, and I can’t help but admire the honesty with which Claude Chabrol presents this story. The film lays bare the deep-seated societal hatred of women who refuse to conform to its predefined molds—women who cannot be controlled.

I’m not sure if the film is widely considered a feminist one, but to me, it’s one of the most compelling feminist movies I’ve ever seen. So a definite recommendation for the movie watchers here.

Do you have any other films like this that come to mind? I’d love to hear recommendations!
