I'm paying a (small) underpayment penalty this year. Are you doing higher withholding or quarterly payments?

This year even though I was withholding extra, I missed my safe-harbor cutoff by like $500 so have to pay a pretty small underpayment penalty to the IRS.

Issue is I trade enough and move money between funds (and have dividends of course) that I am always realizing some gains. Even if it's only 10-15 % of my money it blows my income past my W2 withholding.

Are you guys doing quarterly payments to the IRS now that your NW gets up there? Or just cranking your day job withholding? Despite raises, at this point between higher 401K contributions and higher withholding I basically have taken home less money from my job every year for the past 3 years lol
