Do you think this is a hobby breeder?
UPDATE: TY for the comments. To clarify, I'm my just looking to see if it sounds more like a hobby, backyard breeder vs. a puppy mill. One I'm willing to consider if they provide legit documents. I'm aware of the "red flags." I love that the community is on the lookout for each other.
The Frenchie that I LOVE more than any others may come from a small-scale hobby breeder but could be a well-kept backyard breeder, I suppose. I would be okay with a hobby breeder. I'd be okay with an amateur-ish one if the vet confirms the dog's health and all documentation is provided. Not so much an amateur or profit-only backyard breeder though the conditions are much nicer than super awful ones.
So far, which do you think is MOST LIKELY?
HERE'S WHAT I KNOW:
DOG
5 MONTHS, BLUE-FAWN, FEMALE, REALLY F*CKING PRETTY
1. The dog has one of the healthiest appearances I've ever seen; not short, round, and pudgy, the snout is longer, the tail is short and straight. Good muscle definition. Appears normal sized. In video, the dog is very active, playful, and confident with its littermates and being handled by adults and a kid. No signs of distress behaviorally nor physically.
GOOD
1. The breeder does have an LLC for their French Bulldog breeding business. 7 years.
2. The address for the business is a home address. Owner name, address matches.
3. They provided a legitimate veterinarian reference in the ad for the puppy's exams.
4. Provides videos and offers live FaceTime chats, etc.
5. Not pushy with me at all
6. By contract
7. They do not seem to have a constant stream of puppies. 1-2 litters per year.
8. Home is nice, clean, and safe-looking both inside and outside.
9. Active on social media, regularly posting videos and pictures
IN PROGRESS
1. AKC will confirm if breeder actually registered with them
2. Confirmation by the vet that she has examined the puppies
3. Requested copies of all documentation from the breeder for the puppy & parents
4. I haven't seen the contract yet
MAYBE?
1. They don't seem to offer pick-ups from their home but are willing to meet at a different location or transport, etc.
2. The "reviews" do not have names or typed reviews. Only pictures of buyers w/ puppies
3. No pictures of the parents
4. Not charging extra for breeding rights
5. Pricing is $1,500
