2019 Tucson engine failure due to oil consumption
I was just told by my mechanic that my 2019 Hyundai Tucson had “little to no” oil in the car. I got my oil changed 2 months ago and was only a couple hundred miles over the 3,000 miles for recommended service. I was told the engine is shot and car will not work unless I get a new engine. PLEASE TELL ME there has been a recall for this situation!!! This is preposterous. I’ve had cars where I’ve driven 5,000 miles since last oil change and things were fine. This is unacceptable. I bought this car used 14 months ago on a 5 year finance plan and cannot afford a new engine nor should I have to because this shouldn’t be happening to a car.
UPDATE: Thank you all for your comments and helpful knowledge!! I took my car to a Hyundai dealership over 3 weeks ago and the service rep was extremely helpful. I had to wait for some diagnostic test and (allegedly) they were extremely backed up so I didn’t hear from them until yesterday. But it was excellent news. The issue was the rod bearings which falls under their recall issue so they are replacing the engine!!!! I’ll tell ya… it was a stressful few weeks not knowing the fate of my car though. Now I don’t know what I am going to do with it. Knowing what I know now, I kinda want to just sell it and NOT get a Hyundai but we’ll see. Thanks again!
