Book Club

This is a book club with the goal of sharing interesting conversations starting from the subject of books. Whether you are just getting into reading and want to develop more enthusiasm, or are an avid book worm, you are welcome to join.

November's Read

This month's read will be The Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata. To summarise without spoilers, it's about the life of a 36 year old woman who lives most of her life in a convenience store. I thought it would be a good choice considering it's relatively short, incase somebody finds they don't enjoy it much. Suggestions will be taken for next month's choice and I will also send a poll. The book club will begin at 6:00pm on the Thursday 28th November. This will allow a month for book club members to read the chosen book.

Questions for the readers

Did you consider Keiko's life to be funny, tragic or somewhat relatable?

What do you think about the man that moves in with Keiko, do you have a take on the series of events?

Do you have hope for Keiko Furukara's future?

Venue

This time the book club will be held at The Craft Beer Co. in Clerkenwell 82 Leather Ln, London, EC1N 7TR (the upstairs venue). I also encourage suggestions for a venue on the group chat! If find your lost on your way there you you can message the admin on the gc, who should be able to help.

Final Words

Please read the book! This book club aims to appeal to people who are genuinely interested in reading.

Further, drinking is completely optional and there will be no pressure. The book club aims to make everyone feel comfortable and included but please message the admin if you have concerns.

Please also try to come with one book recommendation and I can compile the results for next months book.
