Affordable mechanic (shock and strut replacement)

Hey all.

I got my oil changed recently and as I was eager to get home they said I needed my shocks and struts replaced. I don't remember the exact number I was quoted on but I know I thought it was too high. A friend recommended I call Garrigans, which has good reviews, and they quoted me over $1800 for shocks and strut replacement + alignment. I'm afraid that since I am a young female they (accurately, to be fair) assume I don't know anything.

I want to get this done as cheaply as possible with a good honest mechanic. I'll go to a mechanic on any side of town. I'd prefer somewhere open on the weekend so it doesn't interfere with work but I just wanna get it done.
