Dishwasher isn’t draining correctly

My dishwasher isn’t draining correctly

I noticed that when I’m done using the dishwasher, the water doesn’t fully drain. I used one of those turkey baster tools (lol) to get the water out of the trap at the bottom of the dishwasher (see blue circle). I came back a few hours later and it was full of water again. My assumption is that the tubing is not correct.

It looks like the discharge line is at the bottom of the cabinet (red circle) and loops up and around into the sink pipe (yellow circle) so somehow the water has to move “uphill” therefore it’s not making it all the way and falling back.

Am I correct in that assumption that this tubing is not correct? If it’s not, how should I change it?
