Help why cant i play remote together?

I wanted to try playing remote together with a friend but he was never able to join, same thing the other way around. Is it because we both play on pc? I have only seen posts where people join with controller. If there is a fix please do tell.

pressing space bar does not work for the one that join not even pressing space bar with a second keyboard works

As soon as the remote session starts the one that joins can do nothing except rebind a key that does nothing
