7900 vs 9700x

I'm planning on upgrading my PC soon. I'm thinking about the 7900 or 9700x (both same price here). Pairing it with a ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI motherboard. I'm planning buying either a 5070 or 5070ti in the future. I play some AAA games on my 1440p monitor, but my pc is not just used for gaming. What would be the best option?
