Struggles with front load washer

We’re living in a rental with a front load washer and, today, a fresh load of laundry (not diapers) came out smelling… not bad, but not great. So I decided to clean the washer and the seal around the drum was literally filled with newborn baby poop.

We’ve only been cloth diapering for a week (started once umbilical cord fell off), and I’ve read that newborn poop is water soluble, so it doesn’t need to be sprayed or scrubbed off before washing. But maybe because of this front load washer I should be?? What do you all think?

I’m already struggling to keep up with everything through this newborn stage as is, so I’m really hopeful there’s another solution. I wish we could just get a top load washer, but unfortunately that’s not really a possibility given we’re renting.
