Extreme Hate on Goodreads? Onyx Storm

Hi all. This is NOT an invitation to absolutely crap all over this book. I don’t mind dislike, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and their own enjoyment of books. I love hearing what made someone geek out or why a book didn’t resonate with them.

But can we talk about how HARSH the Goodreads reviews are? Why are these people reading it if they didn’t like the first two? Are they even real accounts?

The following are reviews or portions of reviews:

“Sending Hate from Ohio”

“This was the most boring, dumbest fucking shit…don’t take this review down you still have your paid 5-star reviews….”

“She is so brave for publishing this”

(Reviewer calling out easily offended RY/Fourth Wing fans) “respectfully, eat a 🍆”

“My toxic trait is being unable to dnf this series”

“Please stop writing”

“I am all for banning books if this is the only one”

It feels so unnecessary and cruel to go to these lengths to just say “hey it wasn’t for me, I won’t be continuing”. I’m not one of these people who will get angry over polite discourse, but this truly feel like people going out of their way to make fans feel inferior for just enjoying something.

Anyway, rant over. I’m just a bit sad right now that I just finished Onyx Storm and felt bombarded by reviews like those above. Like I should feel guilty for having enjoyed it.
