Likely cancelling business trip

Man what a tough start to the year. Kids sick over the holidays into the new year and bam, two days before a work trip I have a wicked flare up. First in what I would say must have been a year or more and has it ever come on strong. I have been trying to rest it out but I am having wicked pain... My prescription is expired and my doctor is kinda of useless when it comes to getting a hold of or renewing prescriptions quickly.

I think the toughest thing about gout is not only the physical pain no one can seen, or many understand but the mental burden of it too. My work is typically super understanding, but I am extremely embarrassed and canceling means logistics but there is no way I can do all the walking and 4.5 hour flight. Messaged my boss now... Wish me luck
