Icons, Images, Sounds

What is your favorite place to get icons, images or sounds? I am mainly looking for custom button images right now and understand that png is the preferred format.

Are there any good free sites out there for this?

Alternatively, as someone new to IOS programming, should I just bite the bullet now and learn Gimpshop to make my own icons?
