Disabled family members exemption from jury duty rejected what do I do now?
I am the caretaker of an older family member who is disabled, she got summoned and we found out today her medical exemption request we submitted was rejected. But she cannot serve so what do I do now? She has a nerve condition, cannot walk even with mobility aids for more than 100 yards unassisted, the condition effects her balance quite severely and she is a major fall risk, she is visually impaired as well and will not be able to read any documents the court provides her, and has diabetes and suspected POTs although she hasn't been diagnosed with POTs yet. She gets extremely confused as well to the point it's often hard to follow a conversation with her and she blurts out random and sometimes inappropriate things often without even realizing she's doing it. Of course she cannot drive so I would take time off my job to drive her which will take a toll on me financially as well. I know if it were me on trial I would not want an almost 70 year old who can't see or easily follow and participate in conversation and kept falling over on the jury that would decide my innocence or guilt. This isn't fair to anyone including my family member, me, the rest of the jury, and whoever's trial she gets assigned. Is there anything we can do to appeal their rejection?
Update: they're letting her postpone her jury duty until September by which time we will be able to see her doctor and get a note hopefully excusing her permanently. Her medical exemption was rejected because her doctor refused to write her a note because he hasn't seen her within the last six months, I gave the court her doctors information and if they reached out he ignored them. This was a pretty big dick move on her doctors part considering we were in a time crunch with her due to appear for jury selection at the end of month and the doctors office not being able to get her in for an appointment till the end of June. Everyone else has said he should've just written the note since it was time sensitive and they were the ones who couldn't get her in in time. We are both in agreement this was the final nail in this doctor's coffin and we're finding her a new PCP as this is not the first time we've had issues with him. Thanks for all the advice.
