For whom the bell tolls [KCD2]
Woowwwww I hated this quest so much. I don't have anything to say that people haven't already said - so this is what I did. Good luck.
My simple 20 step guide (extra steps included!!!) for getting this quest done with an emphasis on alchemy, minimal lockpicking and no pickpocketing:
- Carry the charcoal bags
- Talk to the blacksmith
- Forge the horseshoe
- Pick nettle and thistle
- Talk to the blacksmith about the damn horseshoe (save state)
- Hand off the horse shoe and talk to the horse guy about his past to get access to Lockpicks*
- Steal charcoal and a lockpick from the red pot in the smithy.
- Talk to the barking cook outside of the blacksmith and offer your help
- Talk to the cook again. Follow her to the kitchen. Don't pick her lock, just leave her.
- Talk to the hungry guard upstairs past the praying man
- Find him food in the bathhouse on the first floor
- Drink the fox and quick potions in the bathhouse
- Feed the guard to get access upstairs
- Talk to the groaning chamberlain in the kitchen. With your potion buff you should have better luck getting your speech to pass to get access to the alchemist bench.
- Go to the alchemist station in the opposite tower, find and read the book in the corner and brew digestive potion for the chamberlain
- Try to lockpick the box in the alchemist station for fever tonic ingredients - if you succeed, brew the fever tonic.
- If you fail your lockpicking every time like I did - loot money from the living room a couple of stories above the kitchens and buy more lockpicks from the horse guy. You need to open that chest!
- Bring the chamberlain his digestive.
- Convince him you want to pray to get access to the other tower
- Bring fever tonic to the top of the tower to thomas
Is this optimal? No. Is there a better, faster way? Absolutely!!! Did this work? Yes. Am I angry? Also yes.
Edited to reorder a couple of the extra steps
