Compass error checks
Hey everyone, I posted here a while ago for advice about variation. Was having a disagreement with crew members onboard and thought I was going crazy.

We are required to do fortnightly compass error checks. I’m yet to find someone that can comfortably explain how to do these properly and I’m pretty sure they’re often wrong. Obviously their variation input is wrong as it should be 0.24’E variation (as shown in original post) My questions are -
Why is their variation changing so much ? Is that not taken directly from the same chart/same compass rose? Should that not be a constant ?
People are just copying previous inputs Any assistance in filling these out would be appreciated.
