Feral Cats at the Green Hills YMCA

Update on the cats:

If anyone has access to a humane trap (or three) that I could borrow, please let me know.

I went by today and laid eyes on the situation. Another group member reached out to the YMCA. They know about the cats, and say the cats are coming and going via the drain pipe - which makes sense. That’s usually the case with cats in storm drainage systems. It hasn’t really rained this fall, and the storm drain is a warm, safe spot, full of trash bags that they can sleep on.

So the cats are fine, and well fed. I’m going to call around today to see if any organizations can lend me a humane trap. If anyone seeing this has one that I could borrow, that would be a huge help. We’ll try to get all 3 trapped and neutered at the very least. If we get traps set up, I’ll coordinate so people can check them every set number of hours.

The cats are feral, so they will run if they see you. Trying to access the storm drain is pointless. TNR is likely the best solution.

If anyone is in touch with the teens and elderly woman who were so concerned, please pass this message along to them!
