Dog rehoming options

We had our kiddo almost 6 months ago and one of our German shepherd mutt mix is not adjusting well. We looked into all other options but keeping her is just too high of a risk and she is very unhappy being separated all day.

We are preparing to surrender her to the Fairfax animal shelter, but I'd like to know if there are other options for fosters or rescues we could try first.
