I thought I worked for a respectable firm.

They told me I was doing an excellent job. They reassured me on multiple occasions that I wasn't going to lose my job. Then they fired me out of the blue without warning or explanation. That was bad enough. I went to file my unemployment voucher and the Department of Workforce Development called to investigate. I told them what happened. They called the firm, who then spun an entire lie: I had ignored 900 emails, and had two previous meetings where I was told I would lose my job if my performance does not improve. I didn't even receive that many emails the whole time I was there, and there were no meetings of that nature whatsoever. Now I'm at risk of losing my meager unemployment; I have to pay my mortgage out of my savings, but unemployment was going to be groceries, gas, and incidentals. I could appeal the decision, but who's going to win: an entry level paralegal or a high powered defense attorney? Plus, the appeals process could take months.
I'm so upset I don't know what to do. I haven't had any luck with my job search because I've only got six months of experience and there's no jobs anyways. I've now got a firing tarnishing my name. I'm devastated. Rant over.
