“Fake Frames” Whys that so bad?

TL:DR: I don’t understand the hate that AI upscaling gets. It’s getting better every update, who’s to say it won’t get to the point we hardly can tell the difference between raw and upscale

Do people just not want AI upscaling to get better? Idk when people talk about it like fake frames and fake performance I don’t quite get it. Is it just because at this moment it isn’t flawless? Or is it an overall dislike of the idea of AI upscaling as a whole

If it’s just cuz rn it isn’t the greatest then I don’t see how ppl aren’t hopeful. FSR and DLSS get miles better with each iteration. Ppl say that DLSS is bad when you look closer, but do they think it will always be that way?

I think the argument that baffles me the most is that AI upscaling and frame gen is “fake frames”. I don’t see what is wrong with the idea of AI performance. I saw a comment on YouTube that said they didn’t care how good AI got they would never want fake graphics… what is the difference, it’s all digital, how real does it need to be. If it looks and plays the same as raw performance what’s the problem

This part is something that’s way outside of my knowledge so this is a question, but how long is it even possible for there to be the big advancements in raw performance everyone wants at an affordable price? AMD might pull that off with the 9070 and that’d be great, but how many generations will that be possible for?

I’m not gonna buy any of the next gen stuff, I have a 7800xt and I plan to have fun with that for quite a while, but I’m hoping AI upscaling will be ready for me when I upgrade next
