My problem with comic book power systems...

Unlike most Shonen, you'll have a character that's like "yeah, I have ice powers, I can freeze things". And I'm like that's cool and all.
But then if the authors want them to be more serious they go like "Actually I can control the heat death of the universe through thermodynamic energy manipulation to instantly turn things to sub zero.
And they then go onto use those powers to rob a bank...
