Why I left Wealthfront

I moved all my assets from WealthFront to another brokerage recently. Why? I guess the main thing is that I like a simple "boglehead" approach with just a few funds. Here are a few more comments:

  • Cost. For the features given, I don't think WealthFront's robo (Investment Account) is that compelling. Also, it feels insane to me that WF charges .25% for retirement funds; it seems to me like making these free would be a great loss leader.

  • No "year-to-date" tax info. Fidelity and Vanguard show this; what they show is not quite a year-to-date 1099, but close. The lack of this at WealthFront is a pain for people who pay estimated tax

  • TLH: I can do fund-level TLH myself and don't need or want more than that.

  • Slow rollout of new features; it feels like Wealthfront just doesn't have many features. On a related note, WF has poor features for retirees.

  • no support for hardware security keys like yubikey. I don't need passkeys, just security based on hardware tokens.

  • The Cash account was nice, but was not especially compelling.

To be clear, if WealthFront works for you, that's great.

EDIT: When I refer to YTD tax info above, I should have been clear that I want what other brokerages provide that WF does not: a single YTD tax page with dividends, short/long gains, and related info, rather than having such info buried in multiple places. Other brokerages also make their YTD tax pages more detailed than the limited info that WF provides.
